Celebration of the Sacraments
Saturday: 4:00 PM (Vigil Mass)
Sunday: 9:00 AM, 11:00AM
Monday - Thursday: 9:00 AM
If you are traveling, please visit Masstimes.org for local Mass schedules across the country.
Confessions are heard every Saturday from 3:00 to 3:45 PM in the church and may also be heard at other times by making an appointment with a priest. Please call the office (301-539-3903) if you wish to make an appointment.
The Archdiocese also maintains a daily confession schedule for parishes throughout the diocese.
First-time parents are asked to participate in our Baptism Preparation Program. Classes are scheduled as needed. Adults and children older than 7 years of age (with some exceptions) seeking Baptism or entrance into the Roman Catholic Church participate in the RCIA Program.
Please call the office (301-539-3903) to make the necessary arrangements for Baptism. We ask that parents be registered parishioners for six months or more and that they be regularly attending Mass.
In the Archdiocese of Washington the sacrament of Confirmation is normally received by students during the spring of their eighth grade year. Preparation for Confirmation at St. Joseph’s is a two-year process, begun in seventh grade and is conducted by our Office of Christian Formation independently of religious education classes at the parish and school.
We also offer a basic preparation program for adult Catholics who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please call the office (301-539-3903) for details.
Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick
Catholics who are seriously ill, advanced in age, or going in for surgery are all eligible to receive this sacrament of healing. Simply ask a priest or call the office (301-539-3903) to arrange for a priest to visit any homebound or hospitalized parishioner who may be in need of the Sacrament.
St. Joseph’s welcomes any Catholic who would like to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage in our beautiful church. Because preparation for these celebrations can be involved (Pre-Cana, wedding rehearsals, etc.), we ask that engaged couples begin their arrangements at least 6 months in advance of their proposed wedding date.
Interested couples are asked to call the office (301-539-3903) to make an appointment with the pastor. Further information on the Sacrament of Marriage is also available through the Archdiocese.
Catholic men who are eligible to serve as a deacon or priest and feel an attraction or calling to service for the Church are welcome to contact our pastor. Having spent some time in vocations work, he is happy to assist in discerning a possible calling. Please call the office (301-539-3903) to make an appointment.
