Baptismal Preparation Program
When: First Wednesday of each month, one session
Assists parents in their task of accepting the responsibility of raising their infant child in the faith. Unbaptized children who have reached the age of reason (about 7 years old) are prepared for the sacrament through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: Adapted for Children.
K-8 Formation Classes
When: Mondays, 6:15-7:30 PM
Our K-8 program is both fun and fully academic. In addition to weekly classes, students have the opportunity to participate in field trips, the Christmas pageant, class Masses and Stations of the Cross.
Our parish uses the Sadlier “We Believe” curriculum with special emphasis on meeting the newly promulgated curriculum standards of the Archdiocese of Washington. These standards are spiral in nature, with each year building and expanding on the knowledge gained in the previous years so it is important for students to attend classes continuously as each year enriches their knowledge of the faith, in word and action.
Both First and Second grades prepare the children to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. (Special arrangements can be made for children who join the program after first grade). Likewise, both seventh and eighth grade classes are part of the Confirmation requirements.
Monday Parents’ Formation Class
When: Mondays, 6:15-7:30 PM
At the same times as our K-8 program we offer a class for adults to continue their formation journey. Basic faith facts and a correlation to the curriculum standards applicable to each grade level makes this a great choice for parents of students in the K-8 program. Of course all adults in the parish are welcome to attend these classes, not just parents of the children attending classes.
Lifelong Family Faith Formation
When: Wednesdays, 7:00 PM
A Program for adults and teens which features a series of classes designed in three, 6-week blocks throughout the academic year. Communal prayer, exploring different ways the church prays together, is available before class at 7:00 pm. Classes begin at 7:30 and last about an hour.
When: Wednesdays, 7:00
Anyone who wants to learn more about the Catholic Faith is invited to attend. Typical participants might be those wishing to convert to the faith, Catholics who have been away from the Church for some time, or are missing some of the sacraments.
This class will lead into the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults for persons converting to the faith, or receiving sacraments for the first time.
